Economic Independence with Goat Farming Management

Food security is no longer just a matter of ensuring food availability, it’s also about empowering communities to achieve economic self-reliance.

With that in mind, BMBBD has taken a proactive step toward rural development by launching a goat farming management training program in collaboration with local government authorities and community members.

The program aims to enhance food security while broadening public knowledge of sustainable livestock practices, specifically goat farming, which has long been viewed as a viable option for small-scale agribusiness in rural Indonesia.

At the same time, the training initiative supports poverty reduction efforts by equipping livestock aid recipients with practical knowledge they can directly apply in the field.

Comprehensive Training Across Communities

Participants received comprehensive instruction covering various aspects of goat farming, from selecting healthy livestock and managing daily care routines to improving animal health and productivity.

The training also explored sustainable goat-rearing strategies, value-added product processing, and efficient land use to support long-term farming efforts.

To ensure the program delivered both scientific and practical value, the sessions featured livestock experts and food security specialists who shared their insights directly with participants.

Training was conducted with several community groups, including:

  • BUMDes Maju Bersama, Rumintin Village
  • BUMDes Hasrat Mulia, Kalumpang Village
  • Berkat Mufakat Livestock Group, Tampunang Hamlet, Shabah Village
  • BUMDes Datu Panjang, Harapan Masa Village

The initiative is expected to serve as an entry point for rural communities to achieve greater food independence and unlock new economic opportunities through the livestock sector.

For BMBBD, this training represents more than just capacity-building, it marks an important step toward improving local welfare while promoting a long-term vision of sustainable rural entrepreneurship.
